Who we are

Corey Harrell, Founder of GenMedia, is an accomplished writer, director, and editor based in Los Angeles. A graduate of UCLA's Film & Television program, Corey has worked with major studios and platforms such as Netflix, HBO Max, Lionsgate, Paramount, and Disney+.

He is credited with:

  • Writing a pitch and screenplay produced by Paul Feig (Netflix)

  • Rewriting "Oracle" produced by Will Packer & James Lopez (HBO Max)

  • Writing "One Night in Compton" for Kenya Barris (Paramount)

  • Selling "The House Next Door" to Lionsgate (Theatrical release)

  • Developing a bidding-war project with Amazon Studios

  • Writing for Disney+

Represented by Subtext Media and Entertainment 360, Corey brings real-world expertise and storytelling passion to the GenMedia classroom.

Corey is a seasoned guest speaker, with the honor of presenting at numerous events, panels, and educational forums—sharing insights on media, storytelling, and youth empowerment. His engagements focus on inspiring the next generation of creators, offering real-world perspective, and equipping audiences with the tools to lead, communicate, and create with purpose.

GenMedia is a creative and forward-thinking media education program designed to teach students how to master storytelling and media production for real-world impact.

Through hands-on training in podcasting, video editing, social media strategy, content creation, and digital branding, students learn how to harness the power of media to build confidence, amplify their voices, and positively influence the world around them.

We teach students:

  • To use media for storytelling and advocacy

  • How to build portfolios with high-quality content
